From 1976-1978 she studied drawing and painting in Florence under Nerina Simi and continued to work throughout the early '80's.
In 1985 she went to live in the South West of France with her family where they brought up four daughters and she painted landscapes for 18 years exhibiting in France, Britain and New York.  In 1998  she started doing trips to the Atlantic and the Mediterranean coast painting large canvases of shells and fish.  She wanted to pursue her interest further so went to live by the sea in Catalonia from 2003-2005.   Here she studied shoals of fish swimming on the inside of the waves very close to the beach.  She found fish so beautiful, those shining scales the way they seem to refract the light so that sometimes it is like looking at hundreds of prisms. There is the grace of movement, the wonderfully elegant shapes, the sense of latent energy.  She loves the way they are of the same planet but from a different world and although they are swimming it is as if they are flying.
In 2005 they moved to Devon and here she has been able to continue her work and her search in recording marine life.  She still spends some of the year at her studio in France.
She has tried to make her paintings reflect the colour of the sea, the deep blue greens to azure's, from the slate blue of the Atlantic to the cobalts of the Mediterranean.  You could say that it is a colour scheme for her journey through life from the West Coast of Scotland to Devon via France and Catalonia.
