"Creativity is in my blood. Colour, decorative detail and texture have always been what draws me to things and are a defining feature of my work. It creates an innate feeling of comfort, happiness and joy. I want to ‘bottle up’ the feeling of positivity and translate this onto my canvas."
Amanda Bastin creates beautiful, colourful and decorative landscape oil paintings capturing nature throughout the seasons. She was born into a highly creative family of oil painters, portrait painters, fashion illustrators and fine art restorers and her love for painting was instilled in her from a young age. Painting for her is a form of escapism and she expresses herself through the use of colour and demonstrative brush strokes. Bringing the outside inside, she invites people to step into her paintings and lose yourself in her world of beauty.
Amanda’s career has taken her through various creative environments including fashion design, interior design and theatre set design, but her heart and passion has always been oil painting.
During lockdown she decided to pursue her love for art and attended an online oil painting course with the Martin Kinnear Studio. Within a year she developed an extensive portfolio, had her first solo show and received numerous private commissions. She is currently undertaking a Diploma in oil painting at the Martin Kinnear Studio and planning her next solo show in London, Autumn 2024.
