Sanika Divekar is an architect and ceramic artist born in Mumbai, India, and based in Bath, UK. With a background in architecture and Fine Art Ceramics from Bath Spa University, her practice constructs speculative artefacts that blur the boundaries between relic and waste, questioning how objects, materials and emotions endure beyond human intention.
Working with clay and found materials, she creates objects that feel unearthed rather than made. Drawing inspiration from traditional Indian matkas, earthenware vessels used to store and cool water, she sees the pot as a metaphor for the Earth: a spiritual vessel that holds, sustains and transforms. Through the reimagining of discarded matter, her work reflects on how the ordinary becomes extraordinary, how value changes over time, and what might endure long after we are gone.
Her work has been exhibited in the UK and internationally, including London Craft Week, Wells Art Contemporary, 1000 Vases in Paris, and Shoreditch Design Week in London.
