Sarah has sketched, painted and taken photographs most of her life. Over the years she has painted with groups of professional artists including life drawing in Plymouth with moving dancers and musicians, Paul Fowler and his life classes Extreme Poses, London Fine Art Studios, David Schaefer in Kenya and more recently Hereford College of Art. However, her passion has long been travelling and exploration including sailing to 700 miles from the North Pole, living in Malawi and motorcycling to Cape Town, working as a humanitarian osteopath in Kenya. Sarah developed a fascination in how tribal people live their lives compared to how we live in the western world. Sarah returned to Kenya as part of a humanitarian medical team going into Kibera, the biggest slum in Africa, following the post-election violence of 2007. Spending an inspirational time at a Samburu beading market of some 300 women, her photographs mark a moment in time of sheer beauty. Sarah has recently moved to Frome where she is concentrating on writing and her artwork while treating patients for which she has a passion. She is currently back in Kenya for October nurturing her soul. Sarah Spencer Chapman
