Sandra Porter studied Fine Art at Stourbridge College of Art, received an MA in Fine Art Painting from Chelsea School of Art in 1981 and studied Printmaking with Dorothea Wight at Morley Collect in the 1990's. Sandra has been a member of the Bath Society of Artists since 2016 and was elected to the Royal West of England Academy in 2017. She was awarded first prize for her drawings, Storyboard ii at The Bath Society Open in 2019. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and her work has been selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, the Royal Academy Summer Show, the International Print Centre in New York, Wells Contemporary, The Derwent Art Prize and Sunday Times Watercolour Competition. Her work is in public and private collections, including The Tate and V&A Libraries, UK Government Art Collection, ING and the Universites of Bath and Pelotas, Brazil. Following a teaching career of some 20 years, she now works as a full-time artists in her studio in Norton St Philip. Sandra is inspired by architecture from cupolas of St Basil's Catherdral in Red Square , to the marble stripes of Siena Cathedral and, most recently, the buildings of Shatwell Farm and the exploration of the Drawing Matter archive. She develops representational prints and drawings into abstract imagery and the watercolours shown here demonstrate this process most clearly. Sandra Porter
