Amy Shuckburgh

Amy Shuckburgh's landscapes and seascapes are full of movement, colour and energy. She uses soft pastels and oil paint in a fresh and distinctive style, capturing a sense of playful delight in a natural world. As well as painting her favourite places - Somerset, Cornwall, Wales, the Isle of Man and the Ile de Re, Amy also makes figurative work exploring motherhood and the female form. 

Amy grew up in West London and until recently used the Riverside Studios of the late artists Mary Fedden and Julian Trevelyan. Amy has recently moved to Somerset with her husband and three children, where she now works from a studio on the outskirts of Bruton, taking inspiration from the surrounding landscape. 

In 2019, Amy won the Heatherley's Award for Drawing. Her portrait of Harold Pinter, done from sittings in the playwright's final years, now hangs at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London. Amy is a elected ambassador for Unison Colour. She exhibits and sells her work internationally. Amy trained as a artist at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts, the Royal Drawing School, the Slade School of Fine Art, and the St Ives School of Painting. She has a first class degree in English Literature and a Masters Degree in curating.
