Mike Tugby came to stone carving quite by accident; newly retired after 40 years in the Army, he saw a flyer for a stone carving course and thought that it sounded interesting; little did he know that 10 years later he would still be hooked.
Having got to grips with the basics fairly early on, he has always sought to push his understanding of the art and his ability to produce something of interest out of a lump of rock a little further with every piece. It might be that he uses an unfamiliar stone, or attempts a more complex subject, or just tries to do better. As with most things, there is room for improvement!
