Matthew Walkswithdogs completed a degree in Fine Art and an MA in Fine Art Printmaking at Camberwell University. He then went to work at The Royal National Theatre. Starting as a labourer's assistant he ended up, with luck and hard graft, becoming a Grade 1 scenic artist and then Head of Department within a couple of years. After nine years he decided to become a full time artist and was picked up by 'Mobile Home'. He was given a Solo Show and received very good reviews. He was then represented by Fred, London where his work was purchased by some big collectors, including the British Government Art Collection and the Israel Contemporary Art Museum. In 2008 he was shortlisted for the John Moores 25th Contemporary Painting Prize held at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool. Matthew's paintings suggest submerging memories and imaginings, interwoven with traces of the everyday. Born in 1963 in London, Matthew now lives and paints in Greece.
