Kate Trelawny

Kate is a ceramicist based in South London, working primarily with stoneware to create one-of-a-kind pieces that sit somewhere between the elegant and the whimsical. Her practice is rooted in the tactile and sensory — a continuation of her previous work in food, where form, texture, and presentation were equally central.

Most of her pieces are wheel-thrown, though she often combine this with slab-built elements to explore contrast and balance. She is drawn to quiet forms and thoughtful details, influenced by the refined minimalism of Lucie Rie and the expressive, sculptural florals of Constance Spry. Each piece is unique and made slowly, with attention to rhythm, flow, and imperfection — qualities that reflect the handmade process and invite everyday use.

Her work is an ongoing dialogue between utility and beauty, restraint and play — always grounded in the joy of making.
