Kate Lynch

Kate has been working as an artist since the 1980s. She has become known for recording rural farming and crafts in drawings, paintings and through interviews with her subjects. This work has led to several exhibitions and books depicting willow growers, shepherds, cidermakers, beekeepers and traditional craftspeople. As well as working in oils and pastels, she makes expressive drawings with locally grown willow charcoal. She enjoys making drawings of the starling murmurations and Somerset Levels landscapes, as well as local traditions. She and her husband, painter James Lynch, started a local Mumming troupe and perform traditional mumming plays in pubs and Wasssails and these also provide inspiration for some of Kate’s drawings, pastels and paintings.

Kate lives on a hill overlooking the Somerset Levels with her husband, James.. Kate’s work is in public and private collections.
