Jim left with a BA Honours in Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art in 1994. He has many permanent collections around the world and has been shown in Group and Solo Exhibitions in many Galleries in Scotland, Europe and London. Jim now lives in Somerset.
His paintings are primarily a visual experience, he finds water and trees endlessly fascinating and they lend themselves well to creating dream like spaces, not only because they are loaded with deep rooted mythology and stories, but because of their constantly shifting, immersive and hypnotic qualities. A lot of his paintings are very large so seeing them on screen doesn't give the captivating feeling that you get from standing in front of them in real life.
