George Young, born in 1981, graduated from Falmouth College of Art in 2003 (BA), and the Royal
College of Art in 2008 (MA). His practice spans painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation and film.
Starting with a real event or situation, experienced first-hand, Young’s paintings and prints move
between pictorial representation and abstract composition. Through a combination of influences,
memory, imagination and abstraction he navigates both the personal and the universal in colourful,
painterly figuration that explores how we see and remember the familiar world.
Young has exhibited internationally including at Momentum, 6th Nordic Biennial of Contemporary
Art, Moss; Zabludowicz Collection, Cubitt, Victoria Miro and Peer Galleries in London, Ana Christea,
New York and Galerie Klatovy/ Klenova in Czech Republic among others and his work can be found in
private collections throughout Europe and the US.
