What she adores about charcoal is how it frees you up, it's just a stump of cooked wood, and it does just about anything and becomes part of you as you draw with it. What's more, it's from the basketmaker's willow which grows on the Somerset Levels.  Her subject matter has often been the people who work on the Somerset Levels, weaving baskets, making cheese, shearing sheep or working with wool. She loves drawing the huge skies too, the murmurations of starlings and the traditional Somerset wassails including her Mumming troupe performing the Old St. George play.
